Consultation on Youth Work Qualifications
Since January 2010, ABC Awards has been working with other Awarding Organisations and NYA on replacement Youth Work qualifications for Youth Work support workers at Level 2 and Level 3. A consultation exercise is taking place, and can be found on the NYA website (see link below). The consultation period runs from 12th April to 3 May 2010. Timescale is short but please take part if you can, as your views are important to inform development.

All Points North
All Points North Sunderland is due to start Wed 21st April 2010 17:30 – 19:45 at The Gateway, Sunderland University on Chester Road.
All Points North is an innovative 12 week personal and social development programme that explores issues of culture, citizenship, mental health and well-being.
The group meet once a week for 2 hours to explore issues around culture, citizenship, mental health and wellbeing through group-work, media, music, sport and art.
Throughout, young people will help influence local communities through creating greater awareness of issues of concern to them, whilst working towards the Every Child Matters outcomes. Participants can also work towards achieving accreditation through the Youth Achievement Awards.

Management Development Programme – Next Round
Preparatory work on the final year of the Management Development Programme (MDP) has now started.
This could be your last chance to take advantage of this fully funding training, which has had exceptionally positive feedback from the 3000+ delegates who have benefited from it to date.

CADET 150 – celebrating and promoting the success and value of the Cadet Movement in its 150th year in 2010
Aim
To establish MOD’s Cadet Forces as leading providers of voluntary, extra-curricular educational activity for teenagers in order to:
• Bolster the reputation of cadet forces and by extension, that of the Armed Forces and Defence
• Achieve a better understanding of benefits of cadets throughout UK society
• Obtain support from all parts and tiers of Government
• Create external funding opportunities
• Stimulate improved adult and cadet recruiting climate – mount recruiting surges
• Provide platform for any expansion
Give all those cadets and their adult volunteers serving in 2010 something to remember
Activities in the North East
In addition to local activities throughout 2010 in the North East, Cadet150 will provide the best opportunity for a generation to showcase the Sea Cadet Corps, Army Cadet Force, Air Training Corps and Combined Cadet Forces who will be staging joint weekend displays at various venues in June as follows:
• Press Launch at 11.00 am on Tuesday 18 May at HMS Trincomalee, Hartlepool
• The Bridges, Sunderland, on Saturday 5 June
o Lead Cadet Force: Durham/Northumberland Wing ATC
• The Grey’s Monument, Newcastle upon Tyne, on Saturday 12 June
o Lead Cadet Force : Northumbria ACF
• HMS Trincomalee, Hartlepool, on Saturday and Sunday 12 and 13 June
o Lead Cadet Force : Cleveland ACF
• Millennium Place, Durham, on Saturday and Sunday 19 and 20 June
o Lead Cadet Force: Durham ACF
• The Metro Centre, Gateshead, on Saturday and Sunday 26 and 27 June
o Lead Cadet Force : Sea Cadet Corps
• Sailing Expedition from Monday 30 August to Saturday 4 September
o 4 Sea Cadets, 4 Army Cadets and 4 Air Cadets will sail 150 miles over 150 hours from Royal Quays, North Shields, in an Ocean Youth Trust yacht
• Carol Concert in Middlesbrough Cathedral on Friday 10 December
