Posted by Ria | 0 commentsIf you are under 25 and would like to pick up or develop media skills then the ComMediaN open day workshop could be for you. ComMediaN will be running 4 workshops including: Creative Photography, Video Interviewing, Video Editing, and Writing for Media.
If you would like to come along to this free event (including lunch) then email jamie@rywu.org.uk with your name and which 2 workshops you want to go to.
The event is being held 17th February at the Newcastle City Learning Centre, West Road, NE4 9LU and will run from 11am – 4pm. If you are attending please arrive 10 minutes before the start of the event. There is free parking at the back of the building or West Road is served by many bus routes.
ComMediaN provides those with an interest in media the opportunity to develop their knowledge and experience benefiting both themselves and the community at large. They cover community-based events and challenge the negative stereotypes of young people by reporting on all of the good work that they do.

Posted by Ria | 0 commentsKeyfund Participate NE is running a Keyfund BLAST in the south of the region beginning the 20th February 2012
A BLAST is, in essence, Keyfund in two weeks and includes;
Running this BLAST means that the young people you are working with could have a reward for their learning of up to £250, this will aid them to participate in an activity that might have been previously unavailable to them. You need to have a group of young people to go through the BLAST process which will start on the 20th February 2012 with “Introduction to Keyfund” Training at the BBC TYNE TEES, Middlesbrough. The groups idea also needs to engage with one of the four selected projects we run - The North East Youth Network, somewhereto_, NE-Generation or Truth About Youth. To engage with the TAY programme a press release must be issued about the Keyfund projects work, illustrating how it has challenged and changed negative perceptions.

Posted by Ria | 0 commentssomewhereto_ are staging two nights of entertainment at North Tyneside’s YMCA in North Shields on Monday 23rd January and Monday 30th January. Young people who have come to somewhereto_ looking for performance opportunities will be providing the entertainment.
Bands and Acoustic acts are playing on the 23rd and DJ’s and break-dancers are performing on the 30th. The event begins at 6.30pm prompt and runs on until 9pm with tickets being sold on the door on the night of the event for £2 on a first come first served basis.
We hope to see a lot of young people there, get there early for tickets to avoid any disappointments (max capacity 90).

Posted by Ria | 0 commentsGenerator’s Urban Music Training Academy is running it’s next UMT: VOXcourse in February 2012 and is on the lookout for the best emerging vocalists in the North East aged 16 – 24 to team with regional production mentors.
The course will enable vocalists to develop their own style and skills, record industry standard tracks, work in a professional studio environment and receive expert industry training and artist development.
Previous vocalists graduating from the UMT: VOX course have gone on to release singles, support high profile artists, achieve airplay on national radio and coverage on influential blogs and websites.
