Space Invaders Transformation

gal-4a

The Space Invaders were out in force this weekend as a 15 strong team of volunteers descended on the Old Police House in Gateshead. Their mission is to turn the derelict building into a creative space for local young people.
The building is to become a mix of workshop spaces, studios and gallery spaces for young people to create and exhibit their work. Wallpaper was stripped and doors were sanded and lots of junk was taken to the tip. Then, rollers at the ready and the walls were treated to their first coat of fresh white paint as the rooms begin to become blank canvases where the Space Invaders can make their mark.

The exciting work of young people and architecture students caught the attention of the local media. Check out what they had to say…

Tools at the ready…

Young people and architecture graduates are taking over the Old Police House in Gateshead and transforming it into a creative space for other young people to use.
