Funding: ‘Dragon’s Den’ Extended Deadline

North East Regional Voice & Leadership Network for Young People: Planning Event will give opportunities for people to pitch their ideas of running a local event to young people’s “dragon’s den” at the regional event held on the 16th February.

Organisations and projects working with young people can now apply to the ‘Dragon’s Den’ for funding to run their own local event with young people to contribute to the Regional Voice and Leadership Network. Funding is available to run 5 events. £3000 is available for each event, (plus £300 per event to fund communication with young people i.e. phone cards/credit) organisations interested in running a local event will need to attend the regional event with young people and prepare and deliver a pitch to the ‘Dragon’s Den’.

Criteria for applicants to the ‘Dragon’s Den’:

• The theme of the event MUST be on at least one of the following issues:
  • Lack of things to do
  • Bullying
  • Transport
  • Economic Wellbeing
  • Anti-social Behaviour
• You must aim to reach 100 young people at your event, your event should take place before end of April 2010.
• You must be able to demonstrate how young people have been involved in the planning and delivery of the event.
• You must show how you will report young people’s views into the Regional Network following your event.
• Finally, we are looking for innovative and creative ways to engage young people at your event.

The ‘Dragon’s Den’ Panel will be made up of young people currently involved within participation work in the North East. The closing date for expressions of interest has been EXTENDED till the 8th February 2010.
